Crochet Spiked Cross Stitch WRITTEN PATTERN
USA STITCH TERMS
Hook Size(s): according to your yarn
For my sample I used Stylecraft Bambino DK with a 4mm Hook
Abbreviations:
โ Ch = Chain
โ SC = Single Crochet
โ DC = Double Crochet
โ DC Spike = Double Crochet Spiked Stitch
โ St = Stitch
โ Rep = Repeat
Double Crochet Spiked Stitch (DC Spike) = Elongated Double Crochet Stitch worked into the space two rows below - please see video
Stacked Double Crochet: Insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop so that there are two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through to complete what would be a single crochet stitch. Put your hook through the legs of the stitch you just created. Yarn over, pull up a loop so that there are two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through to complete your โstackedโ double crochet.
Pattern multiple: 3
Row 1: Create your desired chain length in a multiple of 3
SC into the 2nd Ch from your hook.
SC into each ch across.
Row 2: Turn your work but do not ch.
SC into each st across, changing colour in the last SC of the row.
Row 3: Turn your work but do not ch.
Make 1 Stacked DC in the first st
Skip 1 st, make 1 DC in the next 2 sts.
DC Spike in between the 1st and 2nd SC from Row 1
Rep * Skip 1 st, 1 DC in next 2 sts, skip 3 SC from Row 1, DC Spike in between the SC from Row 1* across
Work 1 DC into the last st to end the row.
Row 4: Turn your work but do not ch.
SC into each st across, changing colour in the last SC of the row.
Row 5: Turn, do not ch.
Make 1 Stacked DC in the first st
Rep * Skip 1 st, make 1 DC in the next 2 sts, DC Spike in the gap created by skipping a st two rows below * across
Work 1 DC into the last st to end the row.
Row 6: Turn, do not ch.
SC into each st across, changing colour in the last SC of the row.
Repeat Rows 5 & 6 for pattern
