Learn how to Crochet the Rice Stitch! This fantastically textured stitch is like a mini weave / dense stitch. Combining front post and back post stitches it works up very quickly and give a great sturdy, warm texture. Great for thick blankets, scarves or even washcloths / dishcloths! Very Easy ONE ROW REPEAT.

Hook Size(s): 4.5mm (or any size according to your yarn)

Abbreviations:

โ€ข Ch = Chain

โ€ข HDC = Half double crochet

โ€ข FPDC = Front post double crochet

โ€ข BPDC = Back post double crochet

โ€ข Rep = Repeat

โ€ข St = Stitch

Written Pattern: USA STITCH TERMS

Foundation Row: Ch as many as you need for your project (odd numbers only).

Row 1: Starting from the third ch from the hook, make 1 DC in each ch across.

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Make 1 HDC in the same st. Rep *1 FPDC, 1 BPDC* across. In the last st, make 1 HDC. Due to having an odd number of st, your rows will always start and end with a FPDC after/before the HDC.

Rows 3-onward: Rep row 2 for as long as youโ€™d like the project to be.
