Crochet Puff Flower Square WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

For my sample I used Lion Brand Ice Cream in the shade "Parfait" with Yarnsmiths Create Double Knit in "Off White" and a 4mm Hook

Abbreviations:

●       Ch = Chain

●       Inc = Increase

●       HDC = Half Double Crochet

●       ExDC = Extended double crochet

●       Tog = Together

●       St = Stitch

●       Ch sp = Chain space

●       Rep = Repeat

Extended Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through the first loop on hook (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Incomplete Extended Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook in the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through the first loop on hook (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook).

ExDC7tog: Make 7 incomplete ExDC for 8 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all the loops.

Standing Extended Double Crochet: Yarn over (place your finger on it to keep it secure), insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through the first loop on hook (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Pattern for Puff Flower Square:

Make a magic circle.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 HDC plus ch 1) and rep [1 HDC, ch 1] seven times into the ring.

Sl st to join.

Pull the tail to close the ring.

Round 2: Sl st into the ch sp.

Ch 2 and make [ExDC7tog, ch 3] in each ch sp across.

Sl st in the first ch 3 to join. (8 petals)

Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.

Round 3: Attach your yarn to any ch 3 sp with a Standing ExDC. Make [2 ExDC, ch 3, 3 ExDC, ch 1] in the same ch 3 sp. This forms the first corner.

Make 3 DC in the next ch 3 sp. Ch 1 and make [3 ExDC, ch 3, 3 ExDC, ch 1] in the next ch 3 sp. This forms the second corner.

Make 3 DC in the next ch 3 sp. Ch 1 and make [3 ExDC, ch 3, 3 ExDC, ch 1] in the next ch 3 sp. This forms the third corner.

Make 3 DC in the next ch 3 sp. Ch 1 and make [3 ExDC, ch 3, 3 ExDC, ch 1] in the next ch 3 sp. This forms the fourth corner.

Make 3 DC in the last ch 3 sp of the round. Ch 1 and sl st to join.

Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.
