Moss Stitch 2 Colour Square [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

Moss Stitch 2 Colour Square WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

For my sample in the photos / video, I used Ice Yarn Magic Worsted in the shades Salmon / Green / Blue and Stylecraft Chunky in White with a 6mm Hook


Abbreviations:

·       Ch = Chain

·       Ch sp = Chain space

·       SC = Single crochet

·       Sl st = Slip stitch

·       Rep = Repeat

·       St = Stitch


Pattern for Square:

Foundation Row:

Ch 2. You will work all stitches of round 1 into the second ch from the hook.


Round 1:

Rep *1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC, ch 1* four times. Sl st to join.


Round 2:

Attach your second colour. Turn and make 1 SC in the ch sp. Ch 1 and make (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC) in the corner ch 2 sp.

Ch 1, 1 SC in ch sp, ch 1, (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC) in the corner ch 2 sp.

Ch 1, 1 SC in ch sp, ch 1, (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC) in the corner ch 2 sp.

Ch 1, 1 SC in ch sp, ch 1, (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC) in the corner ch 2 sp. Ch 1 and sl st to join.


Row 3:

Switch to the second colour. Turn and make 1 SC in the ch sp. Ch 1 and rep *1 SC in ch sp, ch 1* across.

For the ch 2 sp of each corner, make (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC, ch 1).

At the end of the round, sl st to join.


Row 4-onward: Rep row 3 until you reach the desired size of your square, switching colour with every round.

Once you’re done, fasten off and cut both yarn ends. Tie off, and weave in any loose ends.
