FOR MY PERSONAL BLANKET:

I joined all my squares using the Tight Join As You Go Method.

This was a VERY overly complicated way of joining my squares!

It involved a lot of brain power, forward planning and concerntration - you may find it much easier crocheting or sewing your squares together AFTER you have made them; that way you can lay your blocks out and more easily โ€œseeโ€ the pattern before joining them together.

If you wish to join your crochet squares AFTER you have made them, you can either sew them together or crochet them together

BLANKET LAYOUT

My blanket measures approximately 39 inches (99cm) wide by 52 inches (132cm) long

For my blanket, I used Hobbii Tweed Dreams in 24 different shades to create the illusion of light and dark diamond squares with a 5.5mm crochet hook.

The Hobbii Tweed Dreams yarn is aran weight - sold in 50g balls / 109 yards

I used 1 ball per colour for the main square - I then used an extra 2 balls of the shade Seagrass for the border.

Each square is 3 rounds

To create my blanket, I used 4 different squares per โ€œblockโ€

Each block is made up of 4 individual squares.

I have created image representations of the 4 squares along with their orientation when joined together to form a block of 4.

BLUE BLOCK

Hobbii Tweed Dreams Colour Names for BLUE BLOCK (shade number is in brackets)

Square 1: Emerald (26) & Seagrass (27)

Square 2: Dark Mint (08) & Irish Mint (28)

Square 3: Midnight Teal (09) & Misty Blue (04)

Square 4: Ultramarine (06) & Seaside Blue (07)

YELLOW BLOCK

Hobbii Tweed Dreams Colour Names for YELLOW BLOCK (shade number is in brackets)

Square 1: Cinnamon (20) & Golden Spices (11)

Square 2: Curry (22) & Sunshine (24)

Square 3: Chillies (12) & Powder Rouge (15)

Square 4: Rust (22) & Rosy Beach (02)

PINK BLOCK

Hobbii Tweed Dreams Colour Names for PINK BLOCK (shade number is in brackets)

Square 1: Pebbles (03) & Sea Salt (01)

Square 2: Pink Punch (13) & Raspberry Jam (16)

Square 3: Frozen Berries (14) & Heather Meadow (17)

Square 4: Old Rose (18) & Mocha (19)

I used the following โ€œblockโ€ sequence:

BLUE BLOCK - YELLOW BLOCK - PINK BLOCK

IN TOTAL YOU WILL NEED 35 โ€œBLOCKSโ€ made up of 140 individual squares

The first 2 rows consists of 20 squares forming 5 โ€œblocksโ€:

BLUE BLOCK - YELLOW BLOCK - PINK BLOCK then repeat BLUE BLOCK - YELLOW BLOCK

The next 2 rows of โ€œblocksโ€ starts with PINK BLOCK then resumes BLUE - YELLOW - PINK and ends on BLUE

Each โ€œblockโ€ shifts over one for each subsquent set of rows

Here is the full layout of the entire blanket
