Crochet Tiny Butterfly

Learn how to crochet a tiny butterfly applique! Super quick, super sweet and super easy! All 4 butterfly wings are crocheted in ONE round, perfect for your scrap yarns or if you need a quick crochet fix 😊

CROCHET BUTTERFLY WRITTEN PATTERN

USA Stitch Terms

Any yarn - any hook size


Working all stitches into a Magic Ring (or, if you prefer you can substitute the Magic Ring for ch2 and work your stitches into the 1st chain you made)

Wing 1:

Ch5

Double Treble (Yarn Over 3 times before you begin the stitch)

2 Trebles (Yarn Over twice before you begin the stitch)

Double Crochet

Chain 2, Slip Stitch into the Ring


Wing 2:

Chain 2

2 Double Crochet

Treble (Yarn Over twice before you begin the stitch)

Chain 3, Slip Stitch into the Ring


Wing 3:

Chain 3

Treble (Yarn Over twice before you begin the stitch)

2 Double Crochet

Chain 2, Slip Stitch into the Ring


Wing 4:

Chain 2

Double Crochet

2 Treble Crochet (Yarn Over twice before you begin the stitch)

Double Treble (Yarn Over 3 times before you begin the stitch)

Chain 5, Slip Stitch into the Ring.

Chain one, cut your yarn leaving a long length of tail.

Close up the Magic Ring, knot the 2 tail ends together at the back.

Butterfly Body:

Using a contrasting yarn colour, with the yarn tail facing upwards by the 2 larger wings, wrap around the middle of the butterfly twice and knot 3 times to form the head - please see video for full walkthrough - trim yarn ends to form tiny antenna.
