Mar 17 Crochet Forked Cluster Stitch Written Pattern

Learn how to crochet the incredibly soft textured Forked Cluster Stitch - this stitch is an easy peasy one row repeat which is looks far more complicated than it is - the crochet Forked Cluster is reversible and fantastic for squishy scarves or blankets!

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

For my sample in the photos, I used Stylecraft Batik Swirl (Hedgerow colourway) with a 4mm Hook

Abbreviations:

· Ch = Chain

· Ch sp = Chain space

· DC = Double crochet

· Rep = Repeat

· St = Stitch

· YO = Yarn Over

· F-CL = Forked Cluster Stitch

Forked Cluster Stitch: YO, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, YO, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, YO and pull through 4 loops on the hook. With 2 loops remaining on the hook, YO, skip a st, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, YO, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, YO and pull through 4 loops on the hook, YO and pull through the remaining 3 loops on the hook.

Pattern multiple: 3 + 2

Foundation Row: Ch multiples of 3 plus 2.

Row 1:

Starting in the fifth ch from the hook, rep (1 F-CL, ch 2) across.

After the last F-CL of the row, ch 1 and make 1 DC in the last st of the row.

Row 2:

Ch 4 (counts as a DC and ch 1) and turn.

Working ONLY in the ch sp of the previous rows, rep (1 F-CL, ch 2) across. One leg of the F-CL will be in one ch sp, skip the st in between, and the other leg will be in the next ch sp. You will start the next F-CL in the same ch sp as you finished the previous F-CL in.

After the last F-CL of the row, ch 1 and make 1 DC in the last st of the row.

Rows 3-onward: Rep row 2.

Tie off, and weave in any loose ends.
