Oct 3 Crochet Daisy Blanket Written Pattern

Learn how to Crochet this Daisy Blanket! With a very simple one row repeat, it couldn't be easier!

Crochet Daisy Blanket WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

You can use any yarn and hook you would like, below is what I used for my blanket.

For my blanket (including the border) I used 7 x balls of Stylecraft Aran Yarn in the shade “Aspen” and 1 x ball of Cygnet Kiddies Supersoft Aran yarn in the shade “White” with a 6mm Hook

For the flowers I used 2 x balls of Cygnet Kiddies Supersoft Aran yarn in “White” and 1 x ball of the shade “Canary” with a 5mm Hook.

(Each ball of white yarn made approximately 21 flowers - I used 32 flowers in total for my blanket)

My blanket measures approximately 43 inches (110cm) wide by 50 inches (127cm) long including the border

Abbreviations:

• Ch = Chain

• SC = Single Crochet

• HDC = Half Double Crochet

• DC = Double Crochet

• St = Stitch

• SS = Slip Stitch

Special Stitch = FHDC Foundation Half Double Crochet

Row 1: Create 125 FHDC stitches

Row 2: Ch1 and turn.

HDC into each stitch across

Rows 3 - onwards: Repeat Row 2

I created 120 rows in total for my blanket

Border

Round 1: Using the same colour as the blanket, join with a SC to the top right stitch (I used a Standing SC to join - create a slip knot on your hook, place hook into stitch, yarn over and draw loop through the stitch - 2 loops on your hook - yarn over and draw through both loops to complete your SC stitch)

SC in each st across the top row.

After the last SC, ch1 and SC into the same st (corner formed)

SC evenly down the side - 1SC in the end of each row

After the last SC, ch1 and SC into the same st (corner formed)

SC in each st across the bottom

After the last SC, ch1 and SC into the same st (corner formed)

SC evenly down up the final side - 1SC in the end of each row

End with SC in same st as the 1st SC of the round, Ch1 and SS to join.

Round 2: Ch1, SC in same st

Repeat Round 1 - place 1SC into each SC of the round below and work [SC, Ch1, SC] into the corner ch1 spaces to form new corners

Round 3 - switch to white yarn

Join with a SC to the top right corner ch1 space (I used a Standing SC to join - create a slip knot on your hook, place hook into stitch, yarn over and draw loop through the stitch - 2 loops on your hook - yarn over and draw through both loops to complete your SC stitch)

Then repeat Round 2

Round 4 - Scalloped Shell Round - please see video for detailed instructions

Abreviated instructions for shells:

On sides: *SC, skip a st, 5DC into next, skip a st* repeat from * to * for the top, sides and bottom edge of blanket

Corners: 7DC into Ch1 corner sp

Flowers

Make as many flowers as you wish and sew to the blanket using the same colour yarn as your blanket

I personally made 32 flowers but you can make as many as you like!

Flowers WRITTEN PATTERN

Special Stitch for flower petals = Elongated DC8TOG - worked over 2 chain spaces - yarn over, go into the chain space and draw up a long loop to the height of your hook, yarn over and draw through the 1st 2 loops only - repeat that action 3 more times (5 loops on your hook) then into the next chain space repeat another 4 times (9 loops on your hook) then yarn over and draw through all 9 loops to complete the stitch.
Push your DCTOG stitches forward from the back to get them to puff up.
Special Stitch for flower centers ONLY = Elongated DC10TOG - worked into one chain only - yarn over, go into the chain and draw up a long loop to the height of your hook, yarn over and draw through the 1st 2 loops only - repeat this action 9 more times (11 loops on your hook) then yarn over and draw through all 11 loops to complete the stitch.
Push your DCTOG stitches forward from the back to get them to puff up.

Flower Petals

Foundation: Ch5 and ss into the 1st ch to form a ring.

Row 1: Ch3 (counts as a HDC & Ch1)

*HDC, ch1*

Rep * * 11 more times

SS into the 2nd Ch from initial ch3

Row 2: *Ch4, Elongated DC8TOG over the next 2 Ch Sps, Ch4, SS back into same Ch Sp that you ended the Elongated DC8TOG in*

Rep * * 5 more times (6 petals in total)

Ch1, cut your yarn leaving a long tail and pull tight.

Flip over your flower, place your hook behind the initial ch4 from start of Row 2 and draw yarn tail through. Tie the 2 yarn tails together tightly with a double knot.

Flower Centers

Ch2, then form a loose 3rd ch. Pinch the 3rd chain to prevent it from tightening up and then ch4.

Working into the loose 3rd ch, work an Elongated DC10TOG, ch1, cut your yarn leaving a long tail and pull tight.

To assemble your flowers: Place the center into the middle of the flower. Using your hook from the back of your work, pull the tail yarn from the puffy center through any ch1 sp from Row 1 of the Flower Petal rounds. On the opposite side of the flower, do the same with the other yarn tail.

Tie both tail ends tightly together with a double knot at the back of the work.
