Crochet Bead Stitch [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

Learn how to crochet the "Bead Stitch"!

This fun, fully reversible stitch has lots of squishy texture and is made with a very easy 2 row repeat. Perfect for your crochet stitch library 🥰

Crochet Bead Stitch WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

For my sample in the photos / video, I used Stylecraft Bambino Yarn in the colour “Mellow Yellow” with a 4mm Hook


Abbreviations:

  • Ch = Chain

  • SC = Single crochet

  • DC = Double Crochet

  • BEAD = Special Stitch: Working around the post of a Double Crochet stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop 3 times (7 loops on the hook) Yarn over, draw through the 1st 6 loops (2 loops on hook) Yarn over and draw through the remaining 2 loops.

  • Rep = Repeat

  • St = Stitch

  • Sk = Skip







Pattern multiple: 2 plus 1




Row 1: Create your desired chain length

SC into the 2nd Ch from your hook. I prefer to use the back bumps of the chain for this pattern but it is entirely optional.

SC into each ch across.




Row 2: Ch3. Turn work. (ch3 counts as a DC st)

DC in the second st.

*BEAD around DC just made.

Skip a st, DC in the next st.*

Rep * * until you have 2 stitches remaining.

End on: skip a st, DC in the last st.



Row 3: Ch1. Turn work. (ch1 does NOT count as a st)

SC in first st.

SC in every st across. (You will have 2 SC for each BEAD st)

End on a SC in the top of the Ch3 from the row below.




Keep repeating Rows 2 & 3 until you reach the length you desire

Tie off, and weave in any loose ends.
